As the snowy season approaches, Psyonix is embracing the holidays bey introducing “Winter Games” to their wildly popular, rocket-car game Rocket League. The Winter Games event will bring a winter-themed gameplay mode and items.
First announced was the new mode — “Snow Day.” Snow Day will replace the Mutator Mashup and bring a hockey-inspired mode. Unlike typical Rocket League matches, Snow Day will feature a heavy disc-shaped puck and an iced over field.
Meanwhile, starting December 14 players will be able to unlock holiday-themed Garage items. These items (listed below) are available until January 4, 2016 — after that point you will have to wait a full year to unlock them. The items will have a lower drop-rate from standard item, but will be unlockable and keepable when attained through winning or losing games. Here are the items you can expect to see:
- “Xmas” Rocket Trail
- “Blitzen” Topper
- “Christmas Tree” Topper
- “Sad Sapling” Topper
- “Santa” Topper
- “Candy Cane” Antenna
- “Holiday Gift” Antenna
Rocket League’s Winter Games event will be available for free on PC and PlayStation 4 for everyone with the base game starting December 14, 2015.
