Rocket League is bringing tons of new content and cosmetics for players to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2021 until the end of February. Announced by Psyonix last night, the brand new Rocket League Chinese New Year 2021 event is officially called Lucky Laterns and it brings loads of free and collectible items and cosmetics, along with two new limited-time modes, and a brand new Year of the Ox themed arena. Before getting into the details of the event, make sure to check out the trailer down below:

Heatseeker 2v2 and Super Cube 3v3 are the new limited-time mode added by the Lucky Lanterns event. The former is now live and will be available until February 22, when it will be replaced by the latter. If you are an old-school Rocket League player, the upcoming Super Cube mode will look familiar to you as it marks the return of the Cubic mode that was originally featured back in 2015 in Rocket League. The mode changes the Mutators parameters and messes with the shape of the Rocket League ball. You will find yourself in a match where you should play with a Cubic ball that has some extraordinary speed and bounciness.

Aside from the new modes, Rocket League Chinese New Year event also adds Forbidden Temple as the new arena with a special design for Year of the Ox. Heading to cosmetics, you can complete certain event challenges to unlock some of the lately added items for the Lucky Lanterns event, including Lucky Cat and Ozzy Ox Toppers, Lantern Lift, and Cherry Blossom Boosts, Temple Guardian Player Banner, and more. If you want more special things, visit the in-game shop and you will find some classy Year of the Ox items.

Rocket League is now available for free on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
