Rocket League Modes of May Event Begins May 1, Heatseeker Returns

Heatseeker, Beach Ball, Dropshot Rumble, and Boomer Ball are the featured game modes for the upcoming Rocket League Modes of May event.

Today, Psyonix announced the Rocket League Modes of May event. Starting May 1, four of your favorite Limited Time Modes are coming back, with one available each weekend of May.

Beginning on Friday, Dropshot Rumble will become available. The mode is an amalgamation of the Dropshot and Rumble modes in which players must score by dropping a ball into the broken floor rather than the typical goal. There are also power-ups players can grab to aid them throughout the match. This mode will be available until May 4.

From May 7 to 11, Beach Ball from the Radical Summer event last year returns featuring 2v2 matches that feature a ball with beachball-like physics. From May 14 to 18, Boomer Ball will be playable featuring a ball that is super fast, super light, and super bouncy. Lastly, the Heatseeker mode returns from May 21 to 26; this mode makes the ball automatically seek into the opposing net when hit.

Here is the full schedule for the Rocket League Modes of May event:

  • Dropshot Rumble – May 1 to 4
  • Beach Ball – May 7 to 11
  • Boomer Ball – May 14 to 18
  • Heatseeker – May 21 to 26

Each mode will begin at 9 am PT on their scheduled start dates, and will end at the same time on their scheduled end dates. These Limited Time Modes will be Unranked, but will still give you the same amount of XP as other Online Playlists.

Personally, I think this is a good way to get people back into Rocket League. Especially since this is unranked, it means it is meant to just be for fun. I have seen videos of Heatseeker mode and it looks so hectic but incredibly fun. In the post, it called Boomer Ball a “community favorite” so I’m sure that will appease veterans and newcomers alike.

Mode is available now for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
