Psyonix’s wildly popular title Rocket League is rapidly approaching its two-year anniversary, so the developers are celebrating by releasing a new Anniversary Update for the game today at 3pm PT before its official anniversary hits on July 7.
This updates includes a free new arena titled Champions Field, which is a standard, modern-looking stadium that can be played in Competitive, Private, and Casual matches. It also adds free Rick & Morty customization items such as the Rick and Morty Antennas, ‘Cromulon,’ ‘Mr. Meeseeks,’ and ‘Mr. PBH’ Toppers, an ‘Interdimensional GB’ Rocket Boost, and ‘Sanchez DC-137’ Wheels.
Eighteen new tracks from EDM music label Monstercat have also been added to the game. New Overdrive Crates that can contain things like animated decals have also been introduced with new customization option for engine audio, goal explosions and trails. This update also brings six new achievements/trophies with it, and move the game to Competitive Season 5, which recently had its changes detailed.
Psyonix also revealed that Rocket League has sold over 33 million copies over the course of the past few years. This number will only continue to grow, as the developers announced at E3 that they are bringing the game to the Nintendo Switch later this year.
