Rocksteady Tells Fans Not to Expect Announcement at The Game Awards, Also Confirms New Project Isn’t Superman Related

Rocksteady won't have anything to reveal next week at The Game Awards. Oh, and they're also not making a Superman game.

For months now, fans have been hoping that Rocksteady Studios, the developer behind the Batman Arkham trilogy, would reveal its next project that they’ve been teasing over the past few years at a variety of events. After a no-show at both E3 2018 and San Diego Comic-Con, many thought that the next best opportunity to reveal their current project would be during next week’s The Game Awards. Well, it seems like if you had those hopes for yourself, you can now safely dash them.

Over on Twitter today, Rocksteady’s co-founder Sefton Hill revealed that Rocksteady will not have anything to announce during the show. Despite saying that he is looking forward to The Game Awards, Hill said that Rocksteady will not be participating. “We’re still hard at work in our development bunker so don’t expect an announcement from @Rocksteadygames,” Hill tweeted.

Perhaps even more interesting than confirming that the studio will have no part in The Game Awards though is that Hill also debunked the much-rumored project that many thought Rocksteady was working on. For years at this point, rumors have swirled that Rocksteady’s next project will be related to Superman, the classic DC superhero. Considering their past work with Batman and a slew of “leaks” that didn’t have much backing them up, the advent of a Superman video game being worked on by Rocksteady seemed to have potential. Hill, however, ended his tweet today by telling fans that the current project that the studio is developing isn’t related to Superman, now finally seeming to end the longstanding rumors.

While it’s a shame that we won’t see what Rocksteady is working on next week at The Game Awards, at least we can now finally end the Superman talk that has surrounded the company forever at this point. If anything, shooting down this rumor has made me even more interested in what Rocksteady is creating. Hopefully, a reveal of this new project can be in the cards for 2019.
