With just a week to go before Rogue Legacy 2 was set to launch in early access, developer Cellar Door has announced a nearly month-long delay. Unfortunately for fans of the series, we'll have to wait just a little longer to get hands-on with the new rogue-lite. That said, in this trying time,  it's important to remember the wise words of Shigeru Miyamoto: "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad."

Okay, so it's not really that deep. After all, games get delayed all the time, this isn't that big of a deal. So, on a more serious note, the delay does feel a bit odd. This was meant to be an early access period. Development was very much still on-going. Anyone expecting a perfectly polished Rogue Legacy 2 to drop in their laps next week was kidding themselves.

Therefore, it seems puzzling to push an early access launch back. That said if the team at Cellar Door isn't comfortable putting it out, well, it's their game. If it means a less buggy launch version hits in a few weeks, then I'm all for it.

Plus, it gives me another month to replay the original Rogue Legacy before the sequel drops. If you've somehow missed one of the best rogue-lites ever released, I'd highly suggest you join me.

Rogue Legacy 2 launches in early access via Steam on August 18. The original game is available now on everything outside of your toaster. Do yourself a favor and give it a whirl. You won't regret it.
