Today, publisher 505 Games and developer Roll7 -- who you may recognize from Not a Hero and the OlliOlli series -- announced a brand-new multiplayer arcade-style action game called Laser League.

According to the pair, the game is a 4 vs. 4 intense online or local multiplayer game that is easy to play but difficult to master, and is a throwback to the heyday of gaming's more approachable arcade action.

In the game you battle against the opposition for control of nodes that bathe the arena in a deadly light. Evading rival colored beams, you will have to try and fry your opponents with speed, strategy, and strength. Further, you can activiate special offensive and defensive abilities as well as pick up game-changing powers on the arena floor.

There will be over 60 characters from "5 unique brands," 6 unique classes (Smash, Thief, Ghost, Shock, Snipe, and Blade), 3 different stadiums with 10 different maps, 15 available powers, and over 250 character customization options.

Tim Woodley, senior vice president of brand and marketing, 505 Games accompanied the announcement with the following statement:

“We have admired and enjoyed Roll7’s work from afar ever since the first OlliOlli game. When we saw the first prototype for Laser League, we could already feel that all-too-rare ‘just one more go’ impulse. We jumped at the chance to help Roll7 take their proven studio to the next level and realize their ambitions for Laser League.

Laser League will launch on Steam Early Access sometime this summer, with a full-release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC scheduled for 2018. Additionally, you can sign up for an upcoming beta test for the game, which is poised to arrive soon. In the meanwhile, you can check out the game's debut trailer and screenshots below:
