Today Kadokawa Games reached out with a press release announcing two new Root Letter games.

The first is Root Letter: Last Answer, that was announced with a teaser trailer. It appears to be a live-action version of the original Root Letter, even if the information is scarce at the moment.

The second game is Root Letter 2. This is just a tentative name for the moment, but absolutely no further details have been announced. All we know is that it's in development.

Incidentally, no platforms have been announced for either game at the moment, so basically, all we have at the moment is the teaser trailer of Last Answer, which you can see below.

The press release promises more info down the line, so we have to wait and see.

If you're unfamiliar with the original Root Letter, it's a charming visual novel set in Shimane Prefecture, Japan. It tells the story of a man in his thirties living in Tokyo, temporarily moving to Shimane in order to locate a penpal from his school days. Unfortunately, things are much more complicated than they seem, and mysteries add onto each other, delivering many shocking revelations.

The game shipped over 400,000 copies for PS4, PS Vita, and PC. You can read my review from back when it was released on consoles.
