While NIS America was originally poised to release RPG Maker MV for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe next month, that will no longer be the case. Today, NIS America made the decision to delay the console versions of RPG Maker MV from their original February 26 release date to a vague 2019 release window.

As for why RPG Maker MV for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch was delayed, the NIS America simply stated that there are "ongoing issues with development." While they didn't go into specifics, it's clear that the game would've launched in the west in an unfavorable state if NIS America had gone through with the current February 26 release date.

As these issues have not been solved yet, NIS America is not willing to announce a new release date yet. They do believe it will launch sometime in 2019 though. To close out their message about the delay, they apologized for the inconvenience this delay may cause to some people, directed those curious about the game to RPG Maker MV's website, and thanked their fans for being both understanding and patient. You can check out the publishers full statement on RPG Maker MV's console release delay below:

"The release for RPG Maker MV will be delayed due to ongoing issues with development. Until they are resolved, the release date will be postponed for later in 2019. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to all those who are looking forward to this game, and we are taking action in order to deliver the best possible product to our fans. This is quite an interesting delay considering the PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions of RPG Maker MV released in Japan last year. That being said, the Xbox One version of the game was delayed until Winter 2019 in Japan, which may have been an early sign of these development issues. While this delay is disappointing, I'd rather NIS America take the time to ensure that RPG Maker MV launches in a satisfactory state, especially when considering the faulty launch of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana's PC port.

When NIS America decides to issue a new release date for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One versions of the RPG creator responsible for titles such as Yume Nikki, Ib, and Oneshot, DualShockers will be sure to let you know. In the meantime, RPG Maker MV is currently available with a thriving community on PC, where the game has been available for $79.99 since October 23, 2015.
