Kolassal Games is the team behind hit board games like Western Legends and Mezo. And now, the team is back with another gigantic board. Ruination is their latest Kickstarter project and is an area control civilization game for 2-4 players. The game is set in post-apocalyptic Eurasia and looks like it could be quite fun. Check it out below.

In Ruination, players take on the role of the leader of one of the many hordes that exist in the new world. Each horde is fighting to win the favor of the Khan, the ruler of their land. The basic gameplay is that of area control where you're fighting the other horde leaders for space on the board. As you battle, you'll build up your army to make them even more formidable in battle.

In some of the early previews of the game, Ruination is being compared favorably to games like Kemet and Blood Rage. That, on its own, immediately got my attention. Those are two of the finest games the hobby has to offer. If Kolossal Games can deliver on that level, this is a game I have to play. And now that the Kickstarter has officially launched, I'm even more excited. Usually I'm not a huge fan of miniatures in my games, but these just look so great. The Exile minis, in particular, fit that Mad Max-like style to a T. Even if Ruination wasn't my type of game, I'd almost just back it for those minis.

If like me, Ruination looks like something you might be interested in, it's available on Kickstarter now. As of this writing, the project has 13 days left to go. And, if you'd like to get a better look at it, the folks at the Dice Tower did a playthrough today.
