At E3, there were three games that prompted me to remove my pants: The Last of Us, Beyond – Two Souls, and Watch Dogs. Judge me if you must, I do not care. With the recent rumor of a Splinter Cell film, Ubisoft just cannot stop with the news as of late, and most of it is has been interesting enough that if I hear anything more out of this developer, I may just go into cardiac arrest.
Watch Dogs wowed everyone at E3 – see: no pants – and raised a lot of questions as to how the game would function on current systems; there was even speculation that the game was actually a next-generation title. Now we are hearing that Ubisoft has gone ahead and registered a slew of domains presumably for a Watch Dogs film adaptation. They include:
This seems like a blatant ‘just-in-case’ move on their part, and I doubt any film is in any form production, because, well, the game has to come out, and it kind of has to not suck. If there is a film, I would not expect even the slightest talk of it until a couple of years – or more – after the game’s release. Five to seven years from now you could be hearing about a Watch Dogs film. Do not hold your breath.
