Rumor: inFamous 2 in 2010

February 11, 2010

The latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine states that PlayStation 3 owners should expect a sequel to Sucker Punch’s inFamous sometime this year.

According to the magazine, inFamous 2 will be taking place “a significant time after the first game, offering a reshaped metropolis.” An official announcement hasn’t been given by Sony or Sucker Punch on the validity of this rumor, but it was rumored before that the developer was indeed working on a sequel.

Rumors last year surfaced as well in which voice casting auditions were taking place for the sequel to the exclusive PS3 title, with the game’s protagonist, Cole McGrath, being recast. Apparently, his raspy voice didn’t have the “badass” feel that Sucker Punch might have been looking for.

We all know how great inFamous was. I would even dare say that it was one of my favorite games of last year, with the addition of a handful of other titles. Although the ridiculous precision of the baddies did both bewilder and anger me at times, it respectfully made the game both challenging and entertaining. I’m just praying that those bastards aren’t tougher in the next game; because I’ll seriously be slamming remotes and consoles all around my house. With E3 right around the corner, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear or see something inFamous 2 related. And it that’s the case, you’ll probably see recorded footage of Joel and I bashing our heads together until we collapse from concussions from sheer excitement.
