Rumor: THQ Not Publishing Devil’s Third

on May 15, 2012 7:30 PM

This just in, the debut title from Valhalla Studios might need a new publisher. Rumor has it that publisher THQ announced its decision not to publish Devil’s Third during a financial call earlier today. Apparently the game doesn’t fit the publisher’s “profitability profile”, which is most likely a bombastic term for ‘sales expectations’.

Being the totally shameless Itagaki fanboy I am, I find this rumor to be absolutely repulsive. I can’t imagine that THQ wouldn’t find this guy’s game profitable considering just about every thing he’s worked on has cleared one million units sold, despite being exclusive to Microsoft’s consoles. However, I have to admit I had already been concerned with the game’s well-being because so little had been seen or heard of it. Perhaps those fears were well placed?

If THQ really doesn’t believe that Valhalla’s game will be profitable, I think it’ll come back to haunt them when it finds success with another publisher. I don’t know why I’m getting all worked up anyway. This is just a rumor until further notice.
