Last year, Human Head Studios revealed Rune: Ragnarok, a new entry in their long-dormant Rune series, which had not seen a new title since 2001. As the year went on, we saw key-art of the Nordic gods and a few screenshots, but today, we finally got to see the game in action in trailer form, and it's pretty badass.

The trailer's narration gives some nice exposition on the world, which is currently being ravaged by the end of days, also known as Ragnarok in Norse mythology. The trailer also shows us what gameplay will look like, even though this trailer is only for the pre-alpha version of the game. A variety of cool things you can do in the game are shown in the trailer, including fighting a giant sea creatures, giants, and dragons, riding dragons, and beating someone with their own limb.

For those of you who don't know, Rune: Ragnarok takes place in a world where the aforementioned Ragnarok has fallen upon it, with many Nordic gods fighting and dying. In the game, players must align themselves with one of five gods - Freya, Hel, Loki, Odin, and Thor - and survive Ragnarok. The game is an open-world RPG with combat that is described as "intense and brutal" by the developers; sailing will also play a big part in the game, and you can see a bit of it in this trailer.

You can check out the pre-alpha trailer for the game below. Rune: Ragnarok does not yet have a release date, and is currently only slated for PC. If you want to get a chance to try out the game early, you can
