It appears that both Himura Kenshin and Shishio Makoto will be joining the roster in Bandai Namco’s Jump Force according to the latest issue of the Weekly Shonen Jump. No official screenshots have been revealed as of right now, but we’ll be sure to update you whenever Bandai Namco decides to show off the characters.

Rurouni Kenshin debuted in 1994. The series follows a wandering swordsman named Himura Kenshin, who was once an assassin but looks to wipe away his sins by providing aid to citizens in need. Shishio Makoto is the antagonist in one of the series’ arcs. While I don’t remember much about him, his appearance is quite graphic. Makoto’s skin was boiled and he wears bandages covering almost all of his body, the parts that are see-through reveal his damaged outer skin.

Some fans speculated as to whether characters from the iconic series may be omitted from the game’s roster after the series’ creator, Nobuhiro Watsuki, was found guilty of possessing child pornography.

While there’s no doubt I feel very negatively towards Watsuki-san due to his incredibly serious crimes, I have fond memories of the anime airing on Toonami back in the day. Anything with swordsmen and samurai in it was always pretty badass to me, so it’s cool to see the characters’ inclusion in the game, but not all that surprising considering some very unconventional, although nonetheless legendary, anime/manga characters are making their way into Jump Force like Yami Yugi, and Ryo Saeba.

Jump Force will be making its way onto PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in 2019. If you haven’t already, you can pre-order the game right now on Amazon.
