Harvesting them gives you some amount of resources as well. So here's what you need to know before encountering them.

How To Kill Shark In Rust

You can use torpedoes to fend off and kill any shark coming your way. These torpedoes can also be bought or crafted yourself.

The Speargun also comes handy while treasure hunting as you can use it from a distance for protection. It takes two spears to kill a shark. You can learn how to craft a spear gun and ammo from a Level 1 Workbench.
