Very recently, a rumor circulated that the Director of 2012's Safe House (starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds), Daniel Espinosa, would be attached to the forthcoming Assassin's Creed film adaptation. The site that first published that rumor, TwitchFilm, has confirmed with New Regency that the studio has in fact not been in contact with the director, and he is not attached to the project at this time.

Additionally, the LinkedIn (via Twitter) profile of Fannie Pailloux, an Executive Producer at Ubiosft Motion Pictures, states that shooting of the film is scheduled to begin in August of this year, so that it may hit its proposed release date of August 7th, 2015.

Michael Fassbender will star in and co-produce the film, with a script written by Michael Lesslie and Scott Frank. The film will be shot in 3D.
