Saints Row Developers Request City Funds to Expand Offices and Hire Up to 100 More Employees

April 18, 2014

Saints Row developers, DS Volition, are looking to receive around $200,000 in incentives from the city of Champaign, IL in order to expand their downtown offices and hire up to 100 new employees. Without the funds, the company states that it may have to consider relocating because such a remodel would be cost-prohibitive.

The main reason for the incentive is due to just how much money the employees spend downtown every year. A survey conducted showed that DS Violation employees alone have accounted for 30,000 visits and have spent about $375,000. With jobs that average around $81,000 a year, adding another 100 employees would have a substantial impact on local businesses and city tax revenues.

The city staff has recommended a $3 per square-foot incentive for any new high-technology space the company occupies, topping off at $150,000. The staff also proposed an additional $1,000 per each new employee and a new parking policy for a ten percent discount to any company leasing over 100 parking spaces.
