Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time Releases in Late August

Samurai Jack makes his return to the realm of video games next month when Battle Through Time releases on August 21.

The summer of the samurai is officially upon us. After the release of Ghost of Tsushima hit PS4 last week, Adult Swim Games has today announced when Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time will be launching, and it’s not too far out.

Revealed in a new trailer for the game today, Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time will be arriving next month on August 21. It will also be releasing on all current-generation platforms, including PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam. It will also retail for $39.99 on all platforms.

First announced earlier this yearBattle Through Time is somewhat of a retelling of the iconic Samurai Jack cartoon. The game will see players revisiting characters and worlds from some of the show’s most iconic episodes, with the original voice actors returning to reprise their roles. The story leads up to Jack’s final battle with Aku, which is where the series finally comes to a close.

Battle Through Time also marks the first return for Samurai Jack to the video game space in over fifteen years. Previously, Samurai Jack: The Shadow of Aku was the only game based on the franchise to be released when it came to Nintendo GameCube and PS2 in 2004. It remains to be seen if Battle Through Time can meet the expectations that longtime fans of the series surely have for it, but based on what we’ve seen thus far, it looks like it’s shaping up nicely.

Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time’s latest trailer can be viewed above if you’d like to get a better idea of how it will play. Stay tuned next month as we should hopefully have some review impressions for you on the game here at DualShockers.
