Samurai Shodown for Switch Will Launch in February
At long last, Switch users will finally be able to play Samurai Shodown starting on February 25.
After a few additional months of waiting, SNK Corporation is finally ready to bring the critically-acclaimed fighting game Samurai Shodown to Nintendo Switch platforms in February.
SNK made the announcement today via a press release that it will finally begin rolling out Samurai Shodown on Switch next month on February 25, 2020. This marks one of the final releases of the game after previously launching on PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia. A PC version is also planned to come about at some point, but SNK hasn’t provided an update on the release date for this iteration.
“Samurai Shodown’s upcoming release on the Nintendo Switch will mark the first time the series will be available on a Nintendo console in over 10 years,” said the game’s lead producer Yasuyuki Oda to accompany the release date reveal. “Fighting game fans will soon be able to pass a Joy-Con to an unsuspecting rival and unleash their fury anywhere around the world.”
In addition to announcing the release date, SNK also revealed that those who pre-order the physical Switch version of Samurai Shodown will be able to receive a limited edition Joy-Con skin. Conversely, if you pre-order the game digitally on Switch, you’ll be able to download a port of the Neo Geo Pocket version of Samurai Shodown 2. Either way, if you’re planning on picking the game up next month, it might be worth pre-ordering just to net some nice additional goodies.
Samurai Shodown will be available on Switch for $49.99 but you can get it for 10% off that price if you do pre-order now. For more on this iteration of the fighting game, be sure to stay tuned next month as we may have some thoughts to share with you on this port.
