Hot off the heels of announcing the release date for Samurai Shodown, SNK has today released a new trailer showing off the move set of one of the game's fighters.

Today's video highlights Nakoruru, a female fighter that comes with an eagle companion to battle against foes. Through the use of her eagle pal, Nakoruru can take to the skies to attack enemies from above more so than taking them on directly. Much like everyone else in Samurai Showdown, her moves are also hyper-stylized to an insane degree.

While I have never played a Samurai Shodown game myself, I have to admit that everything I continue to see from this game impresses me. Not only do the fighting mechanics look solid, but the game has a vibe and art style that is drastically different from everything else on the market right now.

Our own Michael Ruiz recently previewed the game at PAX East and felt the same way. While he has never played a game in this series either, the new Samurai Shodown is now one of his most anticipated releases of the year. If you'd like to read more of Mike's thoughts on what he played, you can read his preview right here. You can also watch our interview with some of the developers behind the game if you'd like.

The gameplay video in question for Nakoruru is attached below. Samurai Shodown is slated to release this summer on June 27 for PS4 and Xbox One. A PC and Switch version of the game is also set to arrive down the road but no release date for these platforms has been given yet.
