Sandbox MMO The Repopulation Adds Entertainer Skills and Improves PvP

December 2, 2012

What happens when you’re dropped onto a new world as a colonist and the native animals start fighting back? That is the premise explored by upcoming Sci-fi MMO, The Repopulation. Players are divided into warring nations  of either NPC factions, or their own that can be created. The sandbox game introduces many abilities to customize the world around you that players have not seen in a serious MMO title since Star Wars Galaxies.

Taking another page from that game, though, The Repopulation’s team has announced a new set of Entertainer skills for characters. These skills, such as music, storytelling, and speeches give players the ability to create long term buffs for others. Will you be part of a traveling band in the war torn world, or give fiery speeches to ignite the soldiers of your nation before sending them off to war?

Speaking of war, we’ve known for a while now that The Repopulation will feature PvP, but it’s only now that the team has started to really focus on it. PvP missions and UI elements mean that the game is moving towards it’s goal of having an immersive and well intertwined PvP system. Of course, it would certainly help your survivability chances if you had an Entertainer buff.

All in all, The Repopulation looks like a fantastic environment for Roleplay or PvP in a Science Fiction setting. The Hero Engine you may remember from Star Wars: The Old Republic certainly makes it look nice as well. Currently there’s no news of a release date, and we could easily have a year to go on it, but in my opinion, The Repopulation can’t get here soon enough.
