Santa Claus Comes to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

Santa Claus Comes to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

Now I have a machine gun. Ho ho ho.

Worried you might be on the naughty list this year? Told a white lie to your significant other about how much money you’ve been spending on games? Consumed with hate after continually losing matches in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s Blackout mode? Took the Lord’s name in vain after you couldn’t get a refund for Fallout 76? I’m sure he’ll understand. Going forward, if you’re trying to get on Santa’s nice list, I suggest not killing him if you see him in a PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds match.

Earlier today, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ holiday event went live. Running through December 26, the event allows users to purchase a garden variety of red and green, holiday-inspired cosmetics. Including Christmas staples like a tacky festive sweater and Elf-colored apparel, PUBG‘s new event allows even the most murderous among us to spread the holiday cheer.

It goes without saying that the best cosmetic here is “Santa’s Beard”. Unfortunately, for those of us not too great at the game, “Santa’s Beard” is the only holiday item that you’ll have to earn through PUBG‘s battle points. While all of the other Christmas items can be earned the old fashioned way (typing in your wife’s credit card number while she’s not looking), “Santa’s Beard” remains the white whale for those of us that need to “git gud.”

If you’d prefer not to spend real-world money or battle points on Christmas cosmetics, you’re in luck. PUBG is offering the “Festive Beanie With Pom Pom” and “Red Nose” to players that log into the game during the event. If players wish to keep these items permanently, they’ll have to reach the top ten a total of ten times during the duration of the event mode.

PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds is now available for Xbox One and PC. You can read my exhaustive musings on the game here.
