Savior (previously known as Into the Rift) is an upcoming action-adventure platformer from developer Starsoft Entertainment. Action platformers are all over the industry right now, but it's hard to remember one with animations this smooth. Just watch the announcement trailer below to see what I'm talking about.

It's absolutely beautiful in motion. When the player character slides under that massive, hammer-wielding enemy and then jumps on his head to use as a stepping stone to a higher platform it's just...picture perfect. And the combat looks very rewarding with all of the deft blocks and stylish strikes. Don't even get me started on the character's parkour. This is obviously just a quick glance, and we have no idea how the game will feel with a controller in hand, but it's hard for me to recall getting this instantly excited over a minute long trailer for a new IP.

Savior appears to be taking quite a bit from the Metroid style of open-world exploration. The game's official website says that you'll be able to "transform your surroundings". This is done by repairing old outposts, rescuing villagers, and fixes means of travel. The whole thing sounds pretty epic in scope. Hopefully, the team can handle their ambition. If they can even get close to what they're planning, this could be special.

Before today, I knew nothing about this title. Now, based on one trailer, I absolutely can't wait to try it out. It's not clear when Savior will be out, but it will come to Linux, Mac, and PC upon launch with a console release still TBD. Stay with DualShockers for all your indie news.
