Say Goodbye To Microsoft Points and Hello to Actual Currency

By Jorge Jimenez

August 26, 2013

Today Microsoft decided to be gone with Microsoft Points and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

In a tiny update, you should see everything that can be purchased on Xbox Live will be translated into dollars, pesos , rupees or whatever your local currency is.

If you still had a balance of points left on your account after the update then you should get a prompt informing you that your points will be magically turned into monies.

Microsoft has already been charging dollar amounts for many of their games on demand. Its good to see this carry over for everything else on Xbox Live.

I personally have always hated points currency. At least with dollar amounts you can  pay for the exact price of content you want instead of being of trying to figure out what to do with those pesky 200 points you have left over. Customer service gets a win!
