The EA Originals indie brand has spawned the interesting and well-received games Fe and A Way Out. Today, we learned when the next title coming under that label will come out. EA and Jo-Mei Games announced that Sea of Solitude will finally be releasing for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on July 5, 2019. At launch, the game will cost $19.99.

On PC, Sea of Solitude will be a Origin-exclusive game for now. It seems to be an emotional time for the studio as well, as Cornelia Geppert CEO of German Jo-Mei Games explained that "Sea of Solitude centers on the essence of loneliness and tugs on the heartstrings of its players by mirroring their own reality. It’s by far the most artistic and personal project I’ve ever created, written during a very emotional time in my life." Overall, the developers are still "excited for players to soon experience Kay’s powerful story of self-discovery and healing."

This news comes ahead of EA Play 2019, the annual pre-E3 event ran by the giant game publisher. A new EA Original title is typically revealed every year, and in 2018 that game was Sea of Solitude. EA is not holding a press conference this year, so it is currently unknown whether or not we will see a new EA Original unveiled. The lack of press conference also explains why this announcement is coming prior to EA Play.

For those of you who haven't heard of Sea of Solitude, it is a game centered around emotions, specifically the loneliness felt by the main character Kay. Players explore the world, which takes the form of a flooded city; that being said, the water level will dynamically change depending on Kay's state of mind. Ultimately, Kay is trying to overcome her loneliness and revert back to being a human from the monstrous form she finds herself in.
