After 26 years, Battletoads makes its triumphant return to consoles today. Dlala Studios and Rare have combined forces to reboot the brawler for more of a modern audience. To celebrate the release of the game, another of Rare's properties have released an in-game item for anybody who checks out Battletoads.

Revealed yesterday on the official Sea of Thieves Twitter account, they shared:

"The Battletoads return tomorrow, August 20th, courtesy of @dlalastudios! To celebrate, anyone who finishes Act One of the raucous multi-genre adventure, at any time, will be able to festoon their ship with a family of fighting frogs! Or are they toads? We hear it's a wart thing."

The ship, which also got a reveal trailer, is a striking green colour and is emblazoned with the Battletoads logo all over it. It also contains an awesome figurehead with three little toads sat around the logo. The full set includes cannons, sails, figurehead, capstan, flag, hull, and wheel. To unlock the ship, players need to complete at least Act One of Battletoads at any time.

Sea of Thieves is no stranger to crossovers. Over the years the game, which hit over 15 million players recently, has had events with games that include Bleeding Edge, Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Rare favourite Banjo Kazooie. The game seems to show no sign of slowing down, with its recent release on Steam which saw it pass over 40,000 concurrent players.

Battletoads is available now for PC and Xbox One (and Xbox Game Pass). If you're unsure about the game, you can read our review, where we scored the game an 8/10, saying: "[Battletoads] is still charming, stylish and a bundle of fun to play. It’s a great example of what an Xbox Game Pass game should be and a very strong first major outing from Dlala."
