Microsoft last year pushed the Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam which saw the game sell over 2 million copies on the digital storefront in just 2 days. This year, it was announced that Rare's piratey adventure game Sea of Thieves would be joining the Steam store in June 2020. Now that it's available on Steam, how well has it been doing? Quite well apparently.

Noticed by GameReactor, the peak concurrent player count for Sea of Thieves on Steam seems to have rocketed past 40,000 players, 41,949 to be precise. This was the peak as of yesterday, with the game launching on Steam on June 3, 2020. just under a week ago.

Sea of Thieves is also available on Xbox One and Windows 10 to play for "free" provided you're signed up to the relevant Xbox Game Pass services, meaning you can actually play it for a small subscription fee a month. On Steam, the game is available for $39.99. While the game was exclusive to Xbox One and Windows 10, it surpassed 10 million players.

The game originally launched back in 2016 and was mixed with the community. Some liked the game, others found the fetch quests too repetitive. However, over the years the game has received numerous content updates that have introduced themed quests, different types of voyages, pets, an arena, and lots more.

Sea of Thieves continues to be supported by Rare and is available on Xbox One and PC. The studio is also working on an upcoming game called Everwild.
