Since Sea of Thieves launched early last year, Rare has brought a ton of content to its once empty pirate-infested world. Pets, emotes, and even story-driven content have been added keeping the cooperative pirate game fresh and exciting. The Sea of Thieves: The Seabound Soul update continues to bring interesting ways to play the game, including a new narrative-driven mission, combat tools, and items to collect.

Potentially the most exciting piece of content coming with the Sea of Thieves: The Soulbound Soul update is the new lore-focused "Tall Tale" mission. You may have come across the shipwrecked Blackwyche in Shipwreck Bay. It seems that the ship's owner, Sir Arthur Pendragon needs your help uncovering the mysteries of a ship known as the Ashen Dragon, as well as a new unknown threat.

To begin the new "Tall Tale" mission, you'll have to journey to Shipwreck Bay and find it on the wrecked Blackwhyche ship. Once you've found the quest book, you and your shipmates must vote on it to begin the story-driven quest. For completing the quest, you'll earn a new set of sails and a new sword.

With recent sightings of skeletons getting a hold of Ashen Tomes, writings that pertain to the powerful skeletal Ashen Lords, Duke has left his post to find help, giving Stitcher Jim the reigns to the Bilge Rats. Jim will give you Voyages for you and your crew to accept which lead to Ashen Keys and Chests. While this is the most reliable way to secure Ashen items, you may find some aboard Skeleton Ships. Additionally, you need to have earned the rank of "Legend" in order to claim these Voyages. So, you can either partner up with a pirate Legend, or befriend one long enough to betray them and take all of the booty for yourself.

The Sea of Thieves: The Seabound Soul update also introduces fire bombs. These can be used both as cannonballs and as a throwable. If you find yourself trying to avoid enemy fire bombs, you may want to keep a bucket of water in handy in case you are your ship are set alight.

Sea of Thieves is available now on Xbox One and PC. If you are an Xbox Game Pass owner, you can pick up Rare's pirate simulator for no additional cost.
