Today Rare came bearing gifts, in the form of a brand new gameplay video of its upcoming shared world adventure game Sea of Thieves.

The video shows almost ten minutes of sleek gameplay in full-blown and rather glorious 4K resolution, and it looks really, really good. I will admit that I'm a sucker for this game's painterly art style.

We get to see different lighting conditions, plenty of navigation, exploration, combat, what happens when a character dies, even diving deep into caves.

Incidentally, the game is played by the developers themselves, but there are still plenty of goofy and interesting moment to enjoy as they search for a treasure chest by following a series of riddles.

You can check out the video below, and if you want to see more, you can also enjoy another trailer on why the game is great to watch on top of playing (even if I'm not sure you really need the explanation, by now), one on riddle questsone about shipwrecks, one about storms the gameplay trailer showcased at E3, a large batch of screenshots and art, and read our most recent hands-on preview.

Sea of Thieves will launch in early 2018 for Xbox One, Xbox One X and PC.
