July 1, 2013

Thanks to the Aspen Institute’s Youtube channel, a conversation between the Aspen Institute’s CEO Walter Isaacson and Kickstarter’s CEO and founder Perry Chen can be seen, which shows how Chen kickstarted Kickstarter, the historical influences that led to Kickstarter, why Kickstarter is important for the arts, and why it’s okay for everyone–included celebrities and industry giants–to use the crowdfunding service.

The video can be viewed below (and starts roughly six minutes in). If you have time to watch the entire interview and Q & A, let us know how you feel about Kickstarter in the comments below.

Masoud House

Born and raised in video games and "geek culture," Masoud has been bred off of fantasy worlds his entire life and doesn't see anything wrong with that. He loves RPGs (especially TRPGs), sandbox games, the sci-fi genre, dieselpunk, art deco, and anything that allows him to create. Having graduated from John Jay College with a degree in English and a minor in Creative Writing, Masoud hopes to one day pen the same novels, comics, movies, and video games he enjoys escaping into when the real world gets too boring.
