While fans have been waiting patiently since his reveal as a new character, Mewtwo is finally returning to the fight in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U at the end of the month, and while the infamous Psychic Pokemon hasn’t been in the Smash Bros. action since the series’ second installment, Super Smash Bros. Melee, a new video shows just how much (or how little) his moveset has changed in nearly 15 years.
In a new video posted by YouTube user Master0fHyrule, you can check out a comparison between the moveset of Mewtwo from his original incarnation in Super Smash Bros. Melee and his upcoming re-entry in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U, based on the reveal trailer shown during this week’s recent Nintendo Direct broadcast.
At a quick glance, not too much appears different from Mewtwo’s previous moves in Melee, aside from some obvious refinements and updates to blend in more with the recent titles and a new appearance that takes in Mewtwo’s appearance in the more recent generations of Pokemon titles – however, we’ll have to wait until the end of the month to see the full extent of his updated appearance in the new Smash Bros. titles.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U are both available now – Mewtwo will be added to both games as DLC on April 15th, 2015 for those that own both titles and registered through Club Nintendo, while everyone else will be able to purchase Mewtwo on April 28th, 2015 ($3.99 for one version, $4.99 for both). In the meantime, you can check out the comparison video of Mewtwo’s moves below for a look at his Melee and 3DS/Wii U incarnations:
