See Microsoft HoloLens’ Mixed Reality “Game” Project X-Ray In Action; $3000 Dev Edition Application Up

on October 6, 2015 11:37 PM

During an event held yesterday dedicated to its devices, Microsoft introduced an exploration for mixed reality gaming for its HoloLens headset, named Project X-Ray.

The “game” isn’t an actual prototype for a commercial title, as much as an exploration of the possibility of mixed reality gaming using holograms, but it’s actually quite impressive on its own.

You can see the recording of the demonstration below.

Incidentally, the application for the Development Edition of HoloLens is now available to those that would like to try it out early. It will be shipped for $3,000 in the first quarter of 2016.

It’ll be interesting to see how lower Microsoft will be able to push that price for consumers, but we’ll have to wait quite a bit longer for that.
