The Legend of Zelda frequently harkens back to its past (and present, and future) in each title, such as the recently-released The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, but a new fan film produced by Machinima takes a look at the origins of a particularly iconic Zelda villain.

Released recently on Machinima's YouTube channel, "Majora's Mask Live Action: The Skull Kid" is a new short film produced by Jared Potter who directed, produced, wrote, edited, and created its visual effects to explore the origins of Skull Kid, the mysterious masked villain from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. In the description for the video:

"THE SKULL KID, a harmless but troublesome imp, has been cast out of the city of Clocktown. Deep within the lost woods he must face the harsh realities of his banishment. There, amongst the trees, an ancient evil has also begun to stir, seeking out a creature suitable to become its puppet."
