Sega Dreamcast iPhone Dock

As most of you remember, 9/9/09 marked the 10 year anniversary of the Sega Dreamcast, Sega’s ambitious console that was killed by the Sony Playstation. It seems that Jay Hauf found a unique way to keep his love for the Dreamcast alive, and that is by modding a controller to make it a dock.

The mod itself does not look very difficult, so it is nice to know that other do it yourselfers can whip up one of these as well. All you would need to do is remove the D-pad (yes that sweet sweet Dreamcast D-pad) and route the cable through the space in the front (which will have you unscrew the controller). Then just rest the connector firmly in the D-pad and voila! you have a Dreamcast controller iPhone dock (or iPod dock, whatever you choose).

This is definitely a fun dock to have, even if you don’t own a Dreamcast. Dreamcast controllers can usually be found used and relatively cheap, so happy hunting!
