Sega revealed earlier this month during the Sonic the Hedgehog panel at SXSW that a new animated series, titled Sonic Mania Adventures, would be coming in the near future. Recently, episode one of the series was finally released.

Much like the intro from Sonic Mania, Adventures boasts the same animation style in what is scheduled to be a five-part series. The series contains no voice acting but it does feature many noteworthy musical tracks that Sonic fans are sure to recognize.

Episode one of Sonic Mania Adventures finds Sonic returning to Angel Island after the events of both Sonic Mania and the other Sonic release of 2017, Sonic Forces. It doesn't take long for him to run into the dastardly Eggman, who is once again trying to kidnap the island's animals. Sonic then springs into action to do what he does best and thwart Eggman, like always.
