Activision published the launch trailer for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the newest game from FromSoftware, the studio behind Dark Souls and Armored Core. The trailer showcases our shinobi protagonist in many battles and environments, and also cinematically displays the resurrection mechanic.

Hyping things up before this launch trailer, multiple short videos were published on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice's official Twitter, showcasing some of the game's bosses. We had the samurai Gyoubu Oniwa,  Lady Butterfly, and the Chained Ogre, giving you a good idea of what to expect for the game's boss fights. Sekiro will also feature optional hidden bosses, an element also present in Dark Souls.

Sekiro is quite different from Dark Souls though. For starters, we'll be able to properly pause when playing Sekiro. Our protagonist got a hook to move around with. We've also got the limited resurrection mechanic, which allows you to come back to life and surprise your enemies. There are many differences from a narrative standpoint when compared to other FromSoftware games too. FromSoftware's President Hidetaka Miyazaki worked on Sekiro's story, but he didn't directly pen the script himself. As such, the game has more traditional storytelling rather than hidden elements that players must find by themselves by reading item descriptions, observing the environments and the like. You can take a look at the story trailer here.

You can watch the launch trailer below. We've also got 20 minutes of Sekiro gameplay ready for you, recorded on PlayStation 4 Pro, and you can read more on the game with our preview.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will release next week for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on March 22, 2019.
