This morning a new listing for a sequel to Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor leaked on the Target retail website. The new game is titled Middle-Earth: Shadow of War and is currently slated to come out on August 22, 2017 if the website's release date can be believed.

The description for Shadow of War reads as follows:

Go behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses and dominate Mordor from within. Experience how the award winning Nemesis System creates unique personal stories with every enemy and follower, and confront the full power of the Dark Lord Sauron and his Ringwraiths in this epic new story of Middle-earth.  In Middle-earth: Shadow of War, nothing will be forgotten.

Also found on the listing, available for PS4 and Xbox One, was a new Gold Edition of the game that will be priced at $99.99. According to the listing's description, it will include:

• Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion

• Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansion

• The Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion

• The Desolation of Mordor Story Expansion

• Gold War Chest

• Over $125 in total value

Nemesis Expansions include a new Orc Tribe featuring new enemies, followers, missions, abilities, weapons, Fortress and wilderness updates, and a Mythic Gear Set.

Story Expansions introduce a new campaign, playable character & abilities, side missions, enemies, allies & more.

Nothing much else is known about the game at this time, but it shouldn't come as a surprise that we are finally getting a follow-up to Shadow of Mordor. The original game released in 2014 to much critical praise while also selling incredibly well. It seemed like only a matter of time until its sequel was unveiled even if its unveiling today is a bit unusual.

Be sure to stay tuned in the coming days as I'm sure we will  get a formal announcement for Shadow of War in that time.
