Square Enix and Eidos Montreal released a brand new Shadow of the Tomb Raider video starring UI Lead David Boileau.
Boileau talks about the fact that the team wanted to focus on the “maturity” of the UI’s presentation, reducing noise and congestion to create a cinematic experience and avoid sucking the player out of the immersion of the experience.
He also mentions the old adage that implies that when the UI is unnoticeable is actually when it’s good.
We also get to see the map. The team went for a top-down approach with something similar to a satellite view, to achieve a grounded approach.
You can check the video out below. If you want to learn more about gameplay, you can enjoy DualShockers’ own preview. You can also enjoy another videofrom the same series released a while ago, alongside a second clip, a third one, and a fourth which is particularly interesting, as it provides a look at machinery and puzzles. The fifth video focuses on lighting, The sixth is about visual effects, The seventh is showcass the enemy AI, and the eighth is all about traversal.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will release on September 14th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If you want to reserve a copy of the game, you can currently pre-order it on Amazon.
