We’re going to have to take this with a grain of salt but according to former NBA star, Shaquille O’Neil, a sequel to the 90s fighting game, Shaq-Fu is in development.
While at this year’s CES convention, my good friend, Antwand Pearman from GamerFitNation asked Shaq if there would ever be a Shaq-Fu 2 to which he replied:
“Actually, yes. It’s coming soon. And the graphics [are] crazy. I promise you –– wait until you see it.”
Who knows if the big man was joking or not but it should be noted that the company that runs O’Neal’s website (Mine O’ Mine) filed several trademarks last year for a possible sequel to Shaq-Fu (according to Siliconera).
Will the world see a sequel to the much maligned Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis game? Has anybody been asking for it? As a dude who breathed fighting games back in the 90s, I can say that I’m NOT looking forward to this. I’m being nice here but Shaq-Fu wasn’t exactly an exemplary example of a great video game, let alone a great fighting game. Who knows though? This could turn out to be an awesome title. Anything is possible after all, right?
Stay tuned for more news if and when it develops.
