After years of anticipation, Shenmue III was slated to finally launch at the end of this summer. Unfortunately, that window has now suddenly changed and the game will instead now be arriving closer to the end of the year.

In a new announcement on the official Shenmue III Kickstarter page today, it was announced that the game has now been delayed to November 2019. Where it was once supposed to arrive on August 27, the game's new date is November 19, 2019.

In a note to fans to accompany the delay announcement, Deep Silver and Yu Suzuki explained that Shenmue III just needs a bit more time in the oven to make it what it should be. "Whilst almost ready, the game simply needs a little more refinement before being truly finished," the message said. "We feel that the extra time we have will help us deliver the true Shenmue experience players around the world deserve!"

Even though delays are never fun, especially for games like Shenmue III that fans have been waiting for over a decade to see, it's always important to remember that pushbacks like this are typically quite beneficial for the end product. If this extra time for the team helps make Shenmue III the games that fans have been begging to have for years now, I'm sure most will be more than happy to wait a bit longer.

While this news is surely disappointing to some, maybe we'll end up seeing some more of Shenmue III in action next week at E3. At the very least, seeing some more of the game would surely help make this extra wait all the easier.
