Atlus has launched the “fake” Jack Bros side-scrolling game as Shin Megami Tensei: Synchronicity Prologue, available now for PC.

Shin Megami Tensei: Synchronicity Prologue stars Jack Frost and Jack O’Lantern, two notable characters from the Shin Megami Tensei universe. Furthermore, the game was developed by the Krobon led Den-fami Nico Game Magazine’s Ladybug team. This is also the team who released the RPG Maker mini-game featured in the KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful Worls Season 2 Blu-Ray.

Shin Megami Tensei: Synchronicity Prologue is available for free on PC and does not require a very powerful machine to run it, here are the specs detailed:

OS Windows 7 or higher
CPU Intel Core 2 Duo
GPU Direct3D 9
Memory 500MB RAM
DirectX Version 5.2
HDD 80MB of free space

Additionally, Shin Megami Tensei: Synchronicity Prologue will be available for free (I just feel the need to say “for free” as many times as possible) until December 24 and can be downloaded right now (Clicking the link will automatically start the download). The game’s story is currently in Japanese, but there is enough English text to play through the game in the west.

The game features simple keyboard controls and allows players to switch between the two iconic characters at any moment. Players will be able to run through enemy infested dungeons while hack and slashing their way to the level boss. Lastly, the art design is reminiscent of classic pixel art games.

This is the first game the two characters have starred in since their debut on Virtual Boy.
