Can Darkrai Be Shiny in Pokemon GO and What Are Its Shiny Odds?

October 21, 2021

It’s time for Pokemon GO’s five-star raid bosses to be shaken up once again, this time during the second part of the game’s yearly Halloween event.

Taking over from Altered Forme Giratina is none other than the Pitch Black Pokemon, Darkrai, a Pokemon which will be in raids until November 5.

It’s the first time that Darkrai has been in raids for nearly a year, since last year’s Halloween event, which means players may be looking for a refresher.

So, to help you out, here’s whether Darkrai can be Shiny in Pokemon GO and if it can, what the odds of finding one are.

Can Darkrai Be Shiny in Pokemon GO?

For those who are looking for shinies, there is good news. Darkrai will be available in this current Pokemon GO raid rotation.

It’s been available in game since March last year, where it was featured as part of a special raid weekend.

What Does Its Shiny Form Look Like?

Usually, Darkrai is a deep black colour, hence the “Pitch Black Pokemon” moniker, however, its shiny form changes that.

Instead of black with a red scarf, shiny Darkrai is purple with a more pinky coloured scarf.

You can check out its shiny Pokemon GO model in the tweet below:

What Are The Odds of Finding A Shiny Darkrai In Pokemon GO?

Usually, Pokemon have a 1 in 500 chance of being shiny in Pokemon GO, however, Darkrai’s Mythical status means that you’re much more likely to encounter one.

Now, instead of a 1 in 500 chance, players will have a roughly 1 in 20 chance of finding a shiny Darkrai.

Of course, RNG still comes into play, but 1 in 20 is a damn sight better than 1 in 500.
