The latest Pokemon GO event is live across the globe and celebrates the fifth birthday of Niantic's AR hit.

Players have the opportunity to catch a Shiny Darumaka for the first time, as well as the returning Shiny Meltan.

Another Pokemon that is appearing in Pokemon GO as part of this new event is Flying Pikachu, with a number five balloon strapped to it.

But can this special Flying Pikachu be Shiny? And if so, where is the Pokemon Available in the game? Let's take a look.

Can Flying Balloon Pikachu Be Shiny In The New Pokemon GO Event?

Thankfully, as part of the Fifth Anniversary event, the Flying Balloon Pikachu can be shiny and some players around the globe have already been lucky enough to catch them.

Sadly, the Balloons aren't a different colour and it's just the Pikachu that's shiny.

If you're hunting for one, you won't notice a huge difference between the two Pikachu. Instead, look out for one that's a slightly darker shade of yellow, bordering orange.

How Can You Get A Shiny Flying Balloon Pikachu in Pokemon GO.

If you've played Pokemon GO, or any Pokemon game for that matter, for a while, you'll know that there's no hard and fast way to guarantee yourself a Shiny Pokemon. Thankfully, however, Flying Pikachu can be found in a variety of locations during this event.

Naturally, it's boosted in the wild, so you're going to want to click as many as possible to ensure that you give yourself the best chance at finding a shiny one.

Flying Pikachu is also appearing as a One-Star Raid Boss during the event so, provided you're willing to spend some Raid Passes, you have another opportunity here.

Finally, there's a giant Collection Challenge as part of the event and alongside a reward of 80 Pokeballs and three Rare Candies, players will earn an encounter with a Flying Pikachu upon completion.
