It's that time of the year once again when Pokemon GO players are treated with an abundance of candy and other bonuses as part of the game's yearly Halloween event.

This year, alongside double Hatch Candy, Transfer Candy and Catch Candy, players will have the opportunity to encounter a range of new Pokemon, including a brand new mega and some wearing new snazzy costumes.

The likes of Pikachu, Piplup and Drifblim will all be wearing their "Halloween Mischief" outfit, but this has players wondering.

Can Halloween Costumed Pikachu, Piplup or Drifblim be shiny as part of the game's yearly event? Let's take a look.

Can Halloween Pikachu, Piplup or Drifblim Be Shiny in Pokemon GO?

Thankfully, the answer to all three is yes, however, it may cause some FOMO as this is likely the only time the trio will be available in this form. That's unless Niantic decides to bring them back next year.

Thankfully, there are a few ways you can encounter the Pokemon in their Shiny forms. Those methods are as follows:

  • Wild Encounters - Pikachu and Piplup
  • Raid Battles - Drifblim
  • GO Battle League - Drifblim
  • Field Research Tasks - Pikachu, Piplup and Drifblim

What Will The Trio Look Like in Their Shiny Forms?

Of the three, only Drifblim has any significant changes to its colour palate.

Shiny Pikachu effectively just turns a more orangey shade of yellow as seen below:

Shiny Piplup, which featured as a Pokemon GO Community Day Pokemon in January last year, just turns a lighter shade of blue:

As stated, Drifblim on the other hand has by far and away the most exciting colour change. Its usual purple body changes to a nice shade of yellow and its yellow accents change to a beautiful baby blue. Of the three this will be the most sought after.
