It's safe to say that the release of Xerneas into Pokemon GO was a bit of a disappointment.

The featured legendary from Pokemon X had potential to really shake up the game, with a decent type combination and high CP, however, a poor moveset really let it down.

Now, however, the release of Yveltal is here, another Pokemon with enormous potential. But, as some people are wondering how good it may be, others are wondering if they can catch a shiny version.

Here's the answer to "Can Yveltal be Shiny in Pokemon GO?"

What Does its Shiny Form Look Like?

Yveltal is generally a pretty terrifying Pokemon. It's a giant Y-Shaped creature, caped in a fierce combination of black and red, signifying just how powerful it truly is.

Its Shiny form on the other hand is very, very cool. While the differences aren't huge, the one change that is made is an impressive one.

Yveltal's black turns white, making it looks slightly less scary but, in my eyes, definitely more interesting.

Can Yveltal be Shiny in Pokemon GO?

Technically, and probably rather unsurprisingly, the official answer is no, Yveltal can't be shiny in Pokemon GO.

This is undoubtedly because Niantic will be holding its Shiny Form back for a later date to drum up excitement and inevitably extract a bunch of raid passes from players. Clever.

However, players can use a Shiny Yveltal in the game. At least in some aspect.

Providing players have completed the research and captured a Shiny Ditto, they will be able to use a Shiny Yveltal in battle.

It's simply a case of using the Shiny Ditto in Yveltal raids, and once it transforms, the Yveltal you're using will be shiny.

Sadly, however, this is only a temporary thing as once the opposing Yveltal has been defeated, normality will be restored.
