ShockSmith: Week 3

Man, it’s been a while since I’ve listened to anything by Silversun Pickups. I really enjoyed the garage rock/shoegaze sound they had in their first album, but then they replaced that with a more generic, Muse-esque alt-rock tone for Swoon, so I stopped caring. It’s always a shame when a band does that. (Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin’s change in a more generic direction is another good example.)

But Swoon had one or two good songs, “Panic Switch” being one of them, and it’s fun to play on Rocksmith. My only complaint about it is the breaks. Like “Are You Gonna Go My Way?”, you spend a good amount of the song standing around, waiting for the next section of guitar parts to come up. It’d be a lot less boring if you had a mic and felt like singing, but without one, the player can become easily distracted and slip up when the playing starts again. I think I avoided that for the most part here. Hit the jump for the full performance.
