Shovel Knight is considered one of the most successful crowdfunded video games ever. Beginning its Kickstarter campaign back in March 2013, it reached over $300,000, blowing its original goal over four times. Since then it's been considered one of the best indie games of this generation, and now a new campaign is beginning for a board game based on the series.

On Tuesday, July 2, Yacht Club Games (with the help of Panda Cult Games) will be launching a Kickstarter for Shovel Knight: Dungeon Duels. There is not much news regarding the game as of yet, but what we do know is that it is a side-scrolling board game where you deal with enemies and obstacles. You can play with up to 4 people, and there will be models for Shovel Knight, Plague Knight, King Knight, and Spectre Knight, all in the different colors from the game. Panda Cult Games has stated that there will be 36 models at launch with plans for more. The specific models in mind are not mentioned.

There is no information as to the different tiers for backing the game nor the rewards that you receive, but we'll likely know those details when the Kickstarter launches tomorrow. With the popularity and success of Shovel Knight, it shouldn’t be a problem for the project to reach their goal. Be sure to follow Yacht Club and Panda Cult Games on Twitter for updates leading up to the launch of the Kickstarter.

If you are interested in playing Shovel Knight you can purchase the game digitally or get the physical edition of the Treasure Trove collection on Amazon. The game is available on all current generation hardware outside of mobile devices.
