Shovel Knight, the platformer that takes many cues from games like Castlevania and Megaman, has sold over 300,000 copies since its release in June according to developer Yacht Club Games.
The game raised $311,502 – more than four times the original goal of $75,000 – during its Kickstarter campaign that ended in April 2013, with the final version of the game delivered just over a year later on June 26th. Shovel Knight was released on 3DS, Wii U and PC to much critical praise, mainly for the games charm and smart modernization of classic systems, has made it one of the best indie games of the year. Moving over 300,000 copies in such a short time frame makes the games accomplishments all the more impressive.
