Shovel Knight Launches in Japan With Classicly-Inspired Localization

While it feels like Yacht Club Games’ Shovel Knight has been around forever, the NES-inspired platformer has just been released in Japan. Along with this, Yacht Club (in a dev. blog post) discussed at length some design choices made to differ the two versions.

According to Yacht Club Games, the changes made created to simulate localization done in the 80’s and 90’s. While the gameplay has remained entirely the same, there are minor graphical, text (the game supports Kana and Kanji), and miscellaneous changes along the path.

Shovel Knight is available on Nintendo 3DS, PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox One. Check out the gallery with some of the changes below:
